Lisa designed sewing patterns and sold them to her community online. She was active on social media and had hundreds of fans and followers. You'd like to start an email list or revive an old one, but you're curious about how a simple list of email addresses can be an asset to your business. Here are three ways you can find the money from your list…

3 Ways to Make Money from Your Email List

There are many ways that you can profit as you build an email list.

Here are three key methods for earning money from your email subscribers:

1. Sell Your Service

One simple way to make money from your email list is to offer a service. 

You could sell a done-for-you service like:

  • Blog posts 
  • New website design
  • Social Media Postings
  • Funnel Design

Or you could also offer to share your experience by selling consulting or coaching services.

The easiest way to market and sell your services?

Build an email list of subscribers interested in what you provide. 

For example, if you start a list of people interested in web design services, you're not going to be able to easily sell them hunting supplies.

It's important to consider what you plan to sell your list before you start growing it. If you plan to be a mindset coach, you'll want to grow a list of people who want your services.

2. Create and Sell a Digital Product

Besides offering services to your clients, you can also make money by creating and selling a product. 

Focus on creating a product your subscribers will want, one that fills a void or a need. 

If you've worked with a lot of clients, even one-on-one, you may already have a few product ideas that you know are likely to sell well.

If you don't know what your community wants, you can send out a survey to your subscribers. Survey Monkey is a GREAT platform to survey your audience.  

Sometimes we think they know what they want…but honestly, it is just a guess. Ask participants what they need and how you can help.

The answers they give might just surprise you!

3. Promote Someone Else

Another way to earn money through your email list is to use affiliate marketing. 

If you're not familiar with it, affiliate marketing is when you promote someone else's product or service to your community using a special link. 

If someone clicks on or makes a purchase from your link, you get credited for the sale. How much you earn will depend on what you're promoting, how responsive your list is, and the product or service's commission rate.

The advantage of affiliate marketing is that you only have to worry about promotion. You don't have the hassle of creating a product, putting up a sales page, or handling customer service. Even companies like Amazon have affiliate programs.

Before you start to try to sell to your email list, make sure you are giving them something of value. Teaching and connecting with them will help them build trust in you so that when you recommend something, they know that they need it.

Only make offers that are relevant to your subscribers and valuable to your community. Don't recommend something if you wouldn't buy it yourself, or if you have not used it yourself.

You want to develop a reputation as a business owner who protects her people and email list and who really truly cares for them.
