3 Simple Tips to Sell Affiliate Products to Your Email List

Lainey loved digital scrapbooking. She started a blog and had a sign-up form for her email list. She sent an email to her subscribers a few times a month, but she wasn't making any money from her email list. 

She started working on a package of digital papers to sell to her community.

The private Facebook community she was involved with suggested that she started selling someone else's products and earn an affiliate income in the meantime.

Lainey thought to herself, wow, what a great idea, that saves me the time and money of developing my digital papers and allows me to bring money into support my business giving her more time to create her product. She immediately loved this idea. She went online, researched places she could become an affiliate of, and made $1200 off her first email recommending someone else's product.

If you're like Lainey, you might be tempted to wait until you have a BIG product to launch to make an offer to your email list. 

But selling your own product doesn't have to be the sole way you make money from your email list or social media communities.

 You can also promote products as an affiliate.

Here are 3 Simple Tips to Sell Affiliate Products to help you get started…

Pick Products that Excite You

When you don't like the product or find it just “meh,” then it's going to be hard for you to promote it. 

If you aren't enthusiastic, your subscribers will sense this, and they'll be less likely to take action and make a purchase.

Instead, look for items that you genuinely like. Products and services that you have used and LOVE are the best options to promote.

Your excitement will naturally come through in the emails you write, making subscribers eager to take a look at your latest recommendations and purchase for themselves.

Add Images to Your Emails

You can have the best copy in your email, and it still won't sell nearly as well without an image. 

Your subscribers don't just want to hear about an amazing product—they want to see it, too. You don't have to include a thousand images. I have found it most effective when you add personal images to your email (maybe you using the product)

When you do include pictures, make sure the image links back to the sales page using your affiliate link. Do this because many people will click on the image to get a better view of the product before they make a purchase.

Offer a Special Bonus

There might be times when you're competing with other affiliates. For example, a new product in your niche has launched, and you know dozens of affiliates will also be sharing it with their email lists.

Since you know your subscribers will be seeing the offer multiple times from different marketers, you'll want to give them a reason to choose your link. You can do this by offering a special bonus to subscribers who purchase through your affiliate ID.

Your bonus could be a consultation with you or a free gift. Both of these are good options, depending on the product or service you are promoting.

If you're a virtual assistant who specializes in social media marketing, then giving a short consultation to someone who buys the latest Facebook advertising course makes sense. You may even turn this subscriber into a paying client if they enjoy the consult.

Keep in mind that you should always choose products that serve your audience. Don't promote an item simply because you like the commission rate or there's a juicy affiliate contest going on.

There's nothing wrong with a good commission rate or fun contest. Just don't let those be the sole factors that determine what you promote. Instead, focus on items that your subscribers will find useful and valuable.
